Bamburi Wananchi Savings and Credit Co-operative Society Ltd was registered on 24th April 1968 (CS/1770) with SASRA. What started with a few employees of Bamburi Portland Cement has grown into a robust financial institution serving employees of Bamburi Cement Ltd, Lafarge Eco System, Special Products employees,and Other eligible and interested members beyond the original founding group
Minimum Savings: Ksh 10,000 (Bamburi Cement) / Ksh 8,500 (Lafarge/Special Products) and 5,000 for other categories

The Society is governed by nine Board members and three Supervisory Committee members, providing effective oversight. Education and Credit Sub-Committees drawn from the Board ensure informed decision-making.
Membership recruitment is ongoing, with the SACCO currently serving 667 members drawn from Bamburi Cement Limited, Lafarge Eco System, and Bamburi Special Products.
From an initial share capital of less than Kshs. 50,000, the Society has grown to Kshs. 16,099,094 in share capital, with members’ deposits totaling Kshs. 351,375,269 as at 31st December 2024.
